Scribley ("we", "us") helps people write and finish a book. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. Questions? Write to steve.lloyd@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Account details: your first name, email address and a password (stored encrypted).
  • Your writing progress: your book's working title, genre, goals, checklist progress and the word counts you log. We do not store or read your manuscript.
  • Reminder settings: your reminder time, time zone and, if you choose text reminders, your mobile number and the time you agreed to receive texts.
  • Survey answers and messages: what you tell us in the writers survey or the contact form, including contact details if you offer them.
  • Visit information: pages visited, referring site, browser type and IP address, used to understand how the site is used.

How we use it

  • To run Scribley: show your dashboard, track your streaks and send the reminders you ask for.
  • To improve Scribley, using survey answers and aggregate visit counts.
  • To reply when you write to us.

Text message reminders

Text reminders are optional and only sent if you enter your mobile number and tick the consent box. Message frequency depends on your settings (at most one reminder a day). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop texts, or HELP for help. You can also turn texts off in your settings. We do not share your mobile number or text consent with third parties for their marketing.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We use service providers to run the site, such as hosting, email delivery and text message delivery, and they may only use your information to provide those services. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and to count visits. We do not use advertising cookies.

Children

Scribley is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can change your reminder settings at any time. To see, correct or delete your information or your account, contact us at the address above.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above.
